Rory O'Neill, an Irish drag queen and gay rights activist who goes publicly by the name "Panti Bliss," has launched an aggressive attack via "X" on John McGuirk, the editor of Gript, a conservative online news outlet in Ireland. The tweet in question is worth quoting, not only because Rory is an influential commentator in Ireland, but also because this particular tweet is highly illustrative of the threat the militant left pose to the values of a free and open society.
Obama set the Civil Rights movement back 50 years in the exact same sense these "people" are setting the Gay Rights movement back 50 years! Keep in mind - Obama is in fact the greatest fairy tale ever told (Bill Clinton) so of course censorship is criciial in suppressing the truth!
When I read articles like this I can't help but think of two fighters - one is free to swing as many punches as possible while the other fighters hands are tied behind his back! It's like yelling at someone while the others persons gagged!

For me it is the best catch-all term I can find for leftists who use aggressive tactics to get people fired from their jobs, get conservative events cancelled, and generally harass people out of mainstream society. They may be contrasted with a more moderate or "normal" left, that make arguments, take political positions, but respect the right of their critics to participate in the public sphere. I'm open to other terms but for now, this is the best term I can come up with. I don't like "extreme" because for me, it is too vague.

I consider that over the last few years, the old 'left' has been occupied and hijacked by the global elites, in unison with lapdog corporate / political interests / police / fire brigades, et al. who feel beholden to either supporting their masters or being defunded / frozen out / cancelled. So the elites have been busy caricaturing / cheapening movements such as gay / black / minority rights from the inside and thereby dividing them and setting people at each other's throats. The result is that the elites feel emboldened and continue to turn the screw, while people who were speaking up for left wing values in say 2019 are now feeling isolated because their old friends have either swallowed the lie and gone a bit do lally, or bailed out after seeing their movement turned upside down. Seeing non-specific articles that seem to just repetitively 'howl at the moon' rather than analyse all the issues behind it is so frustrating. Hope you understand where I'm coming from. Thanks
