No industrial, economic or political system can succeed when moral bankruptcy prevails. It’s not a matter of what “-ism” a society chooses, it is the moral, intellectual and spiritual status of the citizens that is the determinant of success. We are seeing political chaos as a consequence of the corruption of morals, the debasement of thinking, and the spiritual emptiness that is so common. A society comprising selfish, unthinking, vain and venal citizens is destined for dark times.

Yet the current system insists on constitutional rights for corporations which are neither moral nor religious nor people.

Left vs. Right is a mind prison. Anything going against the system is a good thing but may not be sufficient. Those who are flexing their muscle even in a “useless” way are building up the muscle. The most important thing to do is to unplug from the propaganda matrix and jump start your own independent thinking. If a critical mass of begins to do that changes will begin to happen. Electing the populists will not solve the systemic problem but it can be the first step in a long series of steps.

And you apparently missed the PDT presidency. What were so many of his objectives built around? Smaller govt. hence the roe v wade overturning. The two regulations eliminated for every one created. That was kind of populist. Hmm.

You lost me forever with your first paragraph. Pretty sure I would fight to the death to defeat someone with your thought processes. I not sure what school you learned what a democracy is, what a representative republic is, and wtf does a public broadcasting channel have to do with freedom? Wow. You basically describe communism, call that a democracy, and then tell anyone that will listen your plan for fixing what actually isn't broke in your world view. Democracy means majority rules. So is 51% of the people believe in transforming the sexual identity of little children, then that's the law. Do you have a clue why the founders of the USA debated so much over how our republic would be run? And now, it's pretty much a banana republic, thanks to the uniparty. I want to keep going back to reference your diatribe, because you said some incredibly stupid things. But suffice it to say, at least in the USA,we don't live in a democracy. And btw, our public television/news/ propaganda, is just that and only that.

Is it possible that some of the current expressions of dislike or distrust of "democracy" are evidence of the success of Leftists' attempts to equate "our democracy" with Leftism?

As when they say that any attack on Leftism and rule by Leftists is "an attack on our Democracy".
